Spam gets 1 response per 12,500,000 emails

A new study details how spammers – the bane of our email inboxes – still make pots of money, despite only receiving a response to one in every 12,500,000 emails they spam out.

The study, by a team of seven computer scientists from University of California, Berkeley and UC, San Diego (UCSD) infiltrated the Storm network, which uses hijacked home PCs to relay much of the junk email you spend your days wading through while wondering 'who the hell responds to this stuff?'

Well. Now you know. One gullible idiot in 12,500,000 recipients. Or thereabouts.

2009 Bubble Calendar

Who doesn't love some good old bubble wrap? Nothing is as fun as bursting bubbles and that is human nature. A poster sized 2009 calendar that comes with a bubble to pop everyday is nothing short of super, super fun. This makes counting days so interesting and something to look forward to. The calendar, apart from the bubble wrap feature is pretty standard. It has days of the week and all major U.S. holidays marked and weekends bolded for easy reference. You can put it up in your home or office. Just make sure your co-workers and friends don't get too close to burst your bubble!

The size of the calendar is 48" tall x 18" wide and is handmade in Brooklyn and it comes for just $29.99. I'd go buy the 2009 Bubble Calendar right now, but I'm worried I'll pop the entire year's worth of bubbles in one day!

Feature films coming to YouTube

YouTube will begin offering feature films produced by at least one of the biggest Hollywood movie studios possibly as early as next month, according to an executive with a major entertainment company.

For months, Google, YouTube's parent company, has been talking to the major film companies about launching an ad-supported, streaming movie service, two execs with knowledge of the negotiations told CNET News. "It's not imminent," said one of the executives. "But it's going to happen. I would say you can expect to see it, if all goes well, sometime within the next 30 to 90 days."

To be sure, not all the studios are prepared to give YouTube full-length movies. Canadian film company Lionsgate agreed in July to give YouTube access to only short movie clips. At least one other studio is trying to cut a similar deal for short-form content with Google, said a separate high-level industry insider.

Eclipse III – Backlit keyboard lets gamers rejoice in the dark

If you make it a habit to play video games or use your computer in the dark, then you’ll definitely have to check out the Eclipse III from Saitek. This keyboard not only looks cool. It also is backlit, making gaming in the dark super easy.

A lot of people play games in the middle of the night and so as to not disturb others in the house, they will keep the lights off. But this can make seeing the keyboard difficult and not to mention, it’s bad on the eyes. This Saitek keyboard is equipped for low-light computing and gaming, so you can see what keys you’re hitting.

This keyboard can be set to backlight in different colors. It is connected to your computer by means of USB and it sports a 2-stage height adjustment feature, in order to ensure your typing is as comfortable as possible. Many shortcut keys can be programmed to perform whatever function you like, the keys themselves are laser-etched and microphone and head phone ports are included. Pricing and availability are not yet known, but we’ll keep our eyes on this one for you.

Windows 7 Preview Boots 20% Faster Than Vista

Microsoft says that "a very good system boots in under 15 seconds," and while the early-release Windows 7 Preview doesn't deliver a sub-15 second boot time, it does start 20% faster than Windows Vista on my computer. The only way to truly compare boot-up times between operating systems is to try them out on the same exact hardware, and as of today I'm triple-booting XP, Vista, and the Windows 7 Preview on a newly-built PC. The results? Windows 7 boots much faster than Windows Vista—but surprisingly, no faster than Windows XP.

ATP Masters Cup - Shanghai

The ATP's season-ending tournament for the world's top eight players begins this Sunday.

RED Group: Roger Federer, Andy Murray, Andy Roddick, Gilles Simon.

This is an interesting group with the two Andy's and Federer competing for the 2 places in the semis. I don't think Gilles Simon, who was added to the field after World no 1 Rafael Nadal withdrew with a knee injury, will trouble the other 3 from the group.

Andy Murray is in top form this year defeating all the top players of the world. If he continues his form, he should easily sail through to the semis. Federer has also been in good form lately but has been affected by some injury issues. I expect Murray to defeat him but he should be able to defeat Roddick and Simons easily. Roddick for me doesn't have the game to compete with Murray and Federer. So from this group, I'll pick Murray and Federer to reach the semis.

BLUE Group: Novak Djokovic, Nikolay Davydenko, Del Potro, Jo Wilfred Tsonga.

This group looks more open than the Red group. At the beginning of the year, Djokovic was considered as a threat to Nadal and Federer. But as the year, progressed he faded away. So, he has much to prove here. Tsonga and Del Potro have been in good form lately, I expect some good performances from them. Not quite sure how Davydenko will do. So from this group, I'll pick Tsonga and Djokovic to reach the semis.

My Prediction: Federer or Murray should win this year.

Real Madrid vs Juventus

I am an ardent Real Madrid fan but I have to say I am really disappointed by their performances this season. I just saw the last 15 mins of the match last night and real played were pathetic .... no europe for us this time unless we get sme drastic changes ...... new players ?? new tactics...... Schuster looks out of ideas and seems to be playing the wrong XI each time. I still dont know why he played Drenthe ahead of Van de Vaart. I just hope he sorts all his problems soon.

jus been watching games in the epl n italian liga......n Madrid r no were near the likes of man utd and ac milan ...i bet middlesbrough can beat us on this form .........

Losing both home and away to Juventus is really embarassing but I have to say one man was better than the rest. Del Piero was amazing in both legs and scored amazing goals. He truly deserved the standing ovation that was given to him by Bernabeu crowd.
